Manolog- Week 3

Weight: 157 lbs (sigh! no change)
Miles: 13 miles (3+4+6) Slacker!!!

Bit of a low week, had to skip a run to see if niggling pain in my right leg backs off. Has been better on/off after that.
Running Revolutions (@campbell) rocks. I went in for a pair of new shoes (my old one put up a fight and wanted to retire- No Pension!), they had me stand on a gizmo to see the shape of my foot and decide if I have high or low arch. After that the lady at the store asked me to roll up my pants- there were a few cute chicks and so I showed my rock solid calfs with glee :). After that she hung a bottle of beer in front of a treadmill and told me if I could reach it - I could down it (just kidding). Best thing was my legs were videotaped. Reviewing it was fun, my footstrike had definite pronation (wow! I didn't know that).

Next week I'm running the bay to breakers. One of my fellow runners at Sanjose fit asked me if I'm going dressed up as some kind of creature. I didn't think much about my reply and between hard breathing, I replied- "I'm going as myself".

Now, how can I not comment about this week .
Sunday: Call from Mano to Suresh decding to run on Monday morning at 7:15 AM
Monday(6:15AM) :
Mano: "Dei Suresh..I dont think I can make it da..I slept very late last night" .
Suresh: " No problem da. You continue with your dreams and I will continue with mine"
And peace resides..everyone goes back to having pleasant dreams.
Tuesday is the rest day after all that planning to run on Monday and naturally Mano, being the runner he is, takes a solemn oath to run on Wednesday with Suresh
Wednesday(6:15AM):
YOU GUESSED IT RIGHT..
Mano: "Dei Suresh, I slept very late last night da.. Shall we run in the evening"

Now, why was I not surprised when Suresh got a call this morning from Mano " I dont think I can run da..You carry on" ..Ha Ha..

But, Kudos to you buddy..After all that slacking and leg pain, you made 13 miles....and that gets a Wow from me..

*rofl*. That was incredibly funny and 100% fictitious.:)

Now here is the real story:
Tasman & Vista Montana intersection area has been known to receive deep rumbles in the morning. I know this because when I drive up to Suresh's place in the wee hours of dawn- first you feel a minor vibration. You chalk it up to road texture. The vibration increases as you draw near suresh's house. When you park your car there the entire structure vibrates like the edge of a tuning fork. You think its nothing and continue to walk up to their house. By now you hear something between a growl and a rumble. Fear takes over- is this the killer earthquake? is it alien bees attacking planet earth? or could this be a new aircraft designed in secret?
You ring the calling bell, Suresh opens the door and as he swings the door open you are flattened to the ground by a hurricane level decibal noise. You stand up and its like standing in the path of 100mph gale... your hair is whipped into a frenzy and you stand at a 30degree angle to fight the punishing blast from inside. You notice Suresh wearing ear muffs and understand why.

Yes, its the snore from the other denizen of the house-- who is dreaming that 'mano' didn't make it yet another day.

Now my dear readers- the leg pain due to which I'm not going to run this week is not because of *just* running. Its from running away from the above mentioned high decibal growl.

Mano...You have one of the best imaginative minds...coupled with it is your ability to express it in words... Do imaginations stem from our ability to dream ? OR Is it the other way around...Do highly imaginative people dream a lot? In any case, I guess dream is the common denominator...Mano..You have one of the best imaginative minds..:)

suresh: thank you :)

if imagination stems from dreams- sleep nurtures dreams. In that case for a person whose work is imagination- then sleep is hard work.... ho ho ho...

i'm going to work hard now. with my self imposed moratorium on running this week-- i can afford to work very hard.

I agree with you mindframes.. Man, this guy has got imagination which is expected anyway since he loves to sleep and dream , after all.

I did hear about the dreamer in Willowpark apartments, the one right next to 880 in brokaw road.Looks like he makes up some really funny stories of his dreams especially early in the morning when he listens to his stomach rumbling its way to glory...

Now, I can really understand your story . Its very interesting to see what imagination can do to a continuous reverberation from the stomach. :-)
